Oberhausen Cone
Oberhausen, Germany, World’s largest gasometer
Oberhausen Cone was installed as the central display in a disused gasometer being part of an 'Air & Water' exhibition conceived by the famous artists Christo & Jean-Claude.
Lindstrand Technologies used an innovative single-skin fabric, which was held up by internal super-pressure, to produce a cone that was 50 metres tall. Lit from within, and with 8 tonnes of water flowing continuously over the fabric's surface, the Oberhausen cone was a spectacular sight inside the total darkness of the gasometer.
