Fireproof covers for Formula 1
During the Formula 1 season of 2003, the rules changed in that the cars after qualifying had to be stored until one hour before the race in the secure area called “parc fermé”. Here they are typically packed tyre to tyre, fully fuelled and should one car catch fire, chances are that all 20 cars are lost just before the race.
Lindstrand Technologies felt it was a very severe fire risk and produced special silicon coated ballistic great Kevlar from which we made a fully enclosed car cover. This material is totally flame proof and will encapsulate the car and stop any chance of fire. The Kevlar fabric will also provide impact resistance.
